I would like to learn more about procedures for interviewing Mr. Voy and his radio station or whether he has ever had theatrical talent on his show or in his theater in Maquoketa. The book is for a selection of Iowa theater called, "How Iowa Dreams."

My prayers go out to the fireman, business owners, and people of Maquoketa. I have been away for 4 years and spent alot of time in downtown. The business's will surely be missed. Again my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Maquoketa.

I haven't lived in Maquoketa for many years, and wasn't even born there, but my family dates there from the 1870s and I grew up there. I've been reading every story that comes through my Google Maquoketa news alert, and there have been many. More than once this weekend I've been in tears -- sadness to see those old buildings, which my great grandparents saw go up, which have so many memories, so many stories. But also tears of pride at how people came together -- not only from town but from so far to help. Thank God there were no injuries or worse, other than to those dear buildings and the businesses they currently had sheltered.. people may say they're just buildings, but they are so much a part of all of us.

I grew up in Maquoketa and my mother still lives on the farm where I grew up. One of the buildings housed the Penney's where my mother worked for awhile. This will certainly change the face of the heart of Main Street. Dr Risser was our family doctor and actually came to our farm when my sister and I got strep throat real bad. I think he also delivered my brother and youngest sister. My favorite memories of that part of Main Street was when we had "Ridulous Days" and every store had great sales and their wares in front of the store. It was a festive, fun time.
This will be a memorable way for the Fire Dept to move into their new building & see their value to the community.
